Law No. 1012-IIIQ on Cotton.

This Law regulates the basic legal, economic and institutional principles on raw cotton and cotton products and their internal and international trade. The Law aims at developing cotton production and manufacture in the country and regulating the production and processing of cotton in accordance with the market economy. It also sets forth provisions regarding the integration of cotton production and food industry. The Law further lays down the principles and procedures regarding the cotton seed production, processing of cotton, sales and purchases of cotton and cotton seed, establishment and organization of cotton manufacturing cooperatives, quality control of cotton and cotton products and their certification. The Law also sets forth the policy and the responsibilities of the state in this sector such as state subsidy.
