Presidential Decree No. 1986 on measures to ensure the efficient use of water resources.

This Decree provides for the establishment of the Commission to ensure the efficient use of water resources in the country, improve water management, and coordinate activities in this area. The duties of the Commission are laid down in Article 2, as follows: (i) to analyze the current situation in the field of water resources use and management; (ii) to strengthen water management to increase the efficiency in the use of water resources; (iii) to promote the participation of all stakeholders for the implementation of the tasks set out in this Decree; and (iv) to report to the President on the progress of the work every six months.
