Abstract
The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has been established under the Decree No. 485 by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated May 23, 2001. This Decree states that the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources shall be the executive central body carrying out activities in the field of environment such as ensuring environmental protection in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, including Caspian Sea, developing efficient use of natural resources, groundwater and mineral resources, observing hydrometeorology processes, improving soil fertility, to this end monitoring, surveying and mapping. This Decree sets forth provisions on duties and authorities, activities and organization of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
