Abstract
This Decree approves the Charter of the State Agency for Regulation of Nuclear and Radiological Activities (annexed). This Decree establishes the Agency which participates in ensuring the nuclear and radiation safety of the population and territories, prepares state policy in the field of regulation of nuclear and radiological activities, ensures the implementation of this policy and exercises state control in this field.
Article 8 sets out the duties of the Agency including but not limited to: (i) participating in technical investigations of the conditions and causes of the destruction of radioactive substances and the loss of ionizing radiation sources; (ii) implementing measures to ensure radiation safety in enterprises and organizations operating in connection with the use of nuclear, radioactive substances and ionizing radiation sources, as well as in areas where radiation control is carried out, and to assess their effectiveness in accordance with the procedure established by legislation; (iii) conducting radioecological monitoring of the environment; and (iv) providing information to the population about radiation conditions and radiation safety measures.
Entry into force notes
This Decree enters into force upon signature.
