Presidential Decree No. 975 on approval of the Charter of the Department of Biodiversity Conservation under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.

The Department of Biodiversity Conservation is established under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and carries out activities in the fields of sustainable development and conservation of biodiversity, genetic resources and ecosystem in the territory and the part of the Caspian Sea belonging to Azerbaijan; effective management and use of protected areas; wildlife development and hunting; environmental education; and management and development of ecotourism and recreation. The Department of Biodiversity Conservation performs its duties in interaction with all relevant stakeholders, including the state and local self-government bodies, international and non-governmental organizations, as well as legal entities and citizens.
