The State Program on Use of Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources in Azerbaijan Republic.

The State Program on Use of Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources in Azerbaijan Republic is a national Program with a cross-sectoral approach. The overall objective of the Program is to promote the power generation from renewable and environmentally sound sources and to more efficiently utilize hydrocarbon energy sources.
The Republic of Azerbaijan provides renewable energy by solar power, small hydro power plants, biomass power and geothermal power. The efficiency of energy sources will be increased by developing renewable energy sources. In order to ensure the country’s energy security, investments will be promoted and actions will be taken to encourage the use of renewable energy sources. Electric power generation will be increased by installing wind power stations, solar stations, biomass power plants and small hydro power plants. Furthermore heat energy will be produced from waste combustion and thermal waters will be used for heating. The scientific-methodical coordinating center will conduct scientific research to increase the efficiency of renewable energy sources.
The legislative framework for using renewable energy resources will be improved.
