Federal Environmental Protection Strategy 2022‒2032.

The Bosnian Federal Environmental Protection Strategy for the period from the year 2022 until the year 2032 sets three main strategic concepts as follows: Strategic focus 1: Improving the environment, preserving people's health and raising the quality of life for everyone; Strategic focus 2: Improving the management and use of natural resources; Strategic focus 3: Improving the quality of environmental management.
The vision represents a long-term desirable direction of territorial development, clear and attractive to everyone interested actors, both those within the Federation of BiH and those external actors. The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a prosperous living space, which aims to raise quality environment and improving the quality of life of the population at all levels of the federal community, with respecting the principles of good governance and policies of equal opportunities. The vision was developed in accordance with the directions of sustainable development for the entire country, as well as the fact that it is preserved the environment is a part of the strategic orientation of the development of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The EU environmental acquis (policies, directives and regulations) is the legal framework that contains policies and EU legal procedures for achieving good environmental status, especially in terms of air and water quality, efficient waste management, nature protection and control of industrial pollution, chemicals, noise and mitigating and adapting to climate change, as well as horizontal issues such as environmental management and sustainable resource management. For the purposes of drafting the Strategy, seven categories of the acquis communautaire in the field of the environment were recognized which include the most important components of the framework. These categories (thematic areas) are: 1. Management of waters; 2. Waste management; 3. Biological diversity and nature protection; 4 Air quality, climate changes and energy; 5. Chemical safety and noise; 6. Sustainable management of resources; 7. Management of the environment. For each category, specific strategic goals are defined for achieving a good environmental condition, regulatory compliance and effective management in a given subject area.
