Abstract
This Law prescribes the system of population protection against infectious diseases, the measures that must be implemented for the purpose of preventing and suppressing, eliminating and eradicating infectious diseases, the rights and obligations of the authorities and institutions of the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina (hereinafter: the authorities and institutions of the District), health institutions, legal and natural persons and entrepreneurs in the process of implementing measures for the prevention and suppression of infectious diseases, as well as other issues of importance for the protection of the population from infectious diseases in the area of Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina
The text is divided into nine main thematic Chapters and a total of articles 67. Titles of these Chapters are as follows: I. Infectious disease; II. General measures for the prevention and control of infectious diseases; III. Special measures for the prevention and control of infectious diseases; IV. Emergency measures for the prevention and control of infectious diseases; V. Other measures for the prevention and control of infectious diseases; VI. Competences of bodies and entities in the field of protecting the population against infectious diseases; VII. Financing measures for protection against infectious diseases; VIII. Supervision; IX. Offensive provisions.
Protection of the population from infectious diseases is of general interest for the District. Protection of the population from infectious diseases is an organized and comprehensive activity of society with the aim of preventing and suppressing, removing and eradicating infectious diseases. This Law determines that the source of infection is to be considered as a person, animal, object or substance from which the causative agent is transmitted to a susceptible person. Zoonosis (an infectious disease that affects animals and that under natural conditions can be transmitted directly or indirectly, from humans to animals, or as an anthropozoonosis from animals to humans) is also included in these provisions, as it is considered as part of the infectious diseases related issues. Infectious diseases and conditions significant for epidemiological surveillance of infectious diseases in accordance with this law are listed in article 6 (includes Covid-19). Preventive disinsection and deratization measures are determined in article 15. Mandatory reporting, notification and recording are defined in article 30.
