Abstract
This Regulation determines the list of electrical and electronic products, measures prohibiting and restricting the use of electrical and electronic equipment containing hazardous substances, and the method and procedure for managing waste that derives from such electrical and electronic products. The provisions of this Regulation shall apply to waste from electrical and electronic products and equipment classified by classes and subclasses in Annex 1 of this text. The provisions of this Regulation do not apply to: 1) large stationary industrial tools, 2) large fixed installations, 3) passenger and freight vehicles, excluding non-homologated electric two-wheeled vehicles, 4) working machines intended exclusively for professional use, 5) equipment specifically and exclusively designed for use in research and development and intended only for business exchange, 6) medical devices and in vitro diagnostic medical devices, if they are expected to be infectious before the end of their life cycle, and active implantable medical devices. The aim of this text is to establish a waste management system for electrical and electronic products in such a way that, through separate collection and treatment, harmful effects on human health and the environment are prevented or reduced.
