Abstract
The Barbados National Energy Policy lays down strategies to achieve the 100% renewable energy and carbon neutral island- state transformational goals by 2030. The objectives of this policy are to: (I) provide reliable, safe, affordable, sustainable, modern and climate-friendly energy services to all, (II) reduce domestic consumption of fossil fuels economy wide, (III) increase export of all hydrocarbons produced both on land and offshore, (IV) promote local participation both at the individual and corporate levels in distribution of renewable energy generation and storage, (V) lessen the outflow of foreign exchange, and (VI) create a regional centre of excellence in research and development of renewable energy.
