Abstract
This Act provides for control of selected agricultural products (mainly meats, produce, and oils) and other goods by the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affair of the Ministry of Commerce and Trade. For purposes of securing regular supplies on the Barbados market and other specified purposes the Minister may regulate supply and prices of goods. The Minister of Agriculture may regulate the production of vegetables ("all plants fit for human consumption") and the keeping of livestock. The Act also establishes a prices committee, grants powers to the Minister to order the purchase of goods on behalf of the Crown and provides with respect for licences to be obtained for the importation or exportation of regulated goods.
