Abstract
The National Strategic Plan for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases is a national policy covering the period from 2020 to 2025. The following eight (8) priority areas for the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases are: (I) risk factor reduction, including promotion of healthy nutrition through improvements in health and nutrition literacy, and introduction of front-of-package warning labelling on pre-packaged foods; (II) improved management of non-communicable diseases; (III) childhood obesity prevention, such as restrictions on the sale and marketing of unhealthy products to children, and promotion of physical activity; (IV) multi-sectoral work and partnerships, involving civil society and the health-promoting private sector; and demonstrating links among non-communicable diseases, agriculture, and climate change; (V) resource allocation and mobilisation, (VI) communicating for health, (VII) surveillance and research of non-communicable diseases, and (VIII) management, monitoring, and evaluation of the NCD programme and the implementation of the National Strategic Plan for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases 2020-2025.
