Abstract
This Order, made in exercise of the powers conferred by section 23 of the Planning and Development Act, no. 5 of 2019, concerns: agricultural land; solar water heating systems; water protection zone, and applies to all land in Barbados. The Order provides for: conditions and limitations for permitted development; directions restricting permitted development; certification of land development; application to determine whether planning permission is required; requirement for initial environmental evaluation; notice of decision on application; consultation with a specific referral agency in the following cases: operations connected to drainage of land, operations which may affect the surface water drainage of any area outside of the land to which the application relates and in particular any such operations that are likely to affect a natural water course; development on land within or which is likely to have a impact on an area declared as a flood area; if the proposed development involves a significant increase in the demand for potable water supply, and in the discharge of sewage into a public sewerage system; operations with significant impacts on ground water recharge, abstraction or quality; development in an area that is a water protection zone; change in the use of any land used for agriculture, dairy farming or the breeding or keeping of livestock or poultry; the discharge, release or escape of any pollutant, including noise and ionising radiation, on, over or under any land or into the sea; the collection, storage, processing or disposal of any domestic, commercial, industrial or other waste; the storage or handling of any hazardous substance; conservation and management of coastal resources; mining or other related operations; water storage requirements.
