Plant Pest and Disease (Import Control) Act, 1995.

No person shall import into Barbados any restricted article unless he has obtained a permit from the Chief Agricultural Officer in accordance with provisions of this Act (sect. 3). The Minister may appoint Plant Quarantine Inspectors for the purposes of this Act (sect. 4). No person shall remove any restricted article from the port of entry unless inspection of that article has taken place (sect. 5). Section 6 provides for procedures of inspection and measures which may be taken by the Inspectors if he considers that the article is likely to introduce a plant pest in Barbados. For approved plants the importer shall receive a certificate of inspection, which shall be a proof of inspection (sects. 6 and 7). The Minister may, on advise of the Chief Agricultural Officer, restrict or prohibit the importation of restricted articles. Section 9 makes provision for the export of plants and the issue of permits to exporters in the form adopted by the International Plant Protection Convention.
