Abstract
The Regulations are divide into 6 Parts: Preliminary (I); Responsibilities, Duties and Administrative Measures (II); Waste Management Operations (III); Reporting to the Regulatory Body (IV); Financing (V); Verification and Enforcement (VI); Offences and Penalties (VIII).
Radioactive waste shall be classified in the categories set out in Regulation 4. Part II sets out the duties and responsibilities of the National Radiation Commission ("the Regulatory Body"), the Central Radioactive Waste Management Facility, waste generators, and radioactive waste co-ordinators. Chapter III provides for handling of waste, container labelling, discharge of waste, storage, treatment, and transportation. Regulation 24 contains provisions relating to the quality assurance programme adopted by licensees and approved by the Regulatory Body.
