Shipping (Oil Pollution) Act.

This Act makes provision for a wide variety of matters relating to oil pollution by ships in waters of Barbados and oil pollution of any navigable waters by Barbadian ships.
The Act prohibits the discharge of oil by Barbadian ships and prohibits the discharge of oil in territorial waters of Barbados by any ship. The Minister may make Regulations prescribing equipment to be installed on board of Barbadian ships for the purpose of reduction of oil pollution and may direct port authorities in matters regarding oil reception facilities. The Act further, among other things, defines civil liability for oil pollution and exemptions from or limitation of liability, requires each ship entering territorial waters of Barbados to be insured against civil liability for oil pollution, provides for payment of contributions to the International Fund for Compensation for Oil Pollution Damage and defines liability of the Fund in Barbados.
