Abstract
This Act authorizes the Government to acquire private lands that have not been cultivated during the last five years, for any public purpose including afforestation, production of food, the carrying out of waterworks, etc.
The Government shall notify and declare in the official gazette that any waste land is needed for public purposes and then direct the Collector to take order for the acquisition of the land.
The Act further provides for principles for determining compensation, penalties for obstructing the acquisition of land, rule making powers of the Government, etc.
