Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation Act, 2018 (No. 35 of 2018 Law).

For the purposes of this Act, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation established under the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation Ordinance, 1961 (E.P. Ord No. XXXVII of 1961) shall continue as if it had been established under this Act. (2) The Corporation shall be a statutory body and shall have a permanent continuance and a general seal and, subject to the provisions of this Act, shall have the power to acquire, possess and transfer property, both movable and immovable, and may sue in its own name and also be sued in that name. The Corporation shall perform the following functions, namely:- take necessary measures for the production, processing, warehousing and marketing of agricultural inputs relating to seed and horticulture development and supply to farmers directly or through dealers; take necessary measures to create and expand irrigation facilities in the agricultural sector; procure, transport, warehousing and supply fertilisers directly or through dealers to ensure the supply of fertilisers; build, repair and develop irrigation and irrigation and crop protection infrastructure; conduct surveys of irrigation machinery, irrigation areas, water resources, water quality, level and availability; research, experiments and creation of data banks; for the proper use of water for agriculture: surface and rainwater conservation and use; groundwater recharge, etc.
The Corporation shall have the following powers in matters relating to land, namely:-(a) purchase, exchange, acquisition or otherwise acquire land; (b) all functions relating to land management, including land development; (c) land use functions described in the activities, programs and project documents; (d) conservation, sale, exchange or otherwise use of land; (e) lease at appropriate rent and under certain conditions.
