Abstract
The National Conservation Strategy 2021 to 2036 (NCS) of Bangladesh lays down future strategy to guide the core, dependent and supporting sectors in making informed decisions to conserve nature and biodiversity while managing the natural resources. This document contains five Chapters: 1. Introduction; 2. Core NCS Sectors; 3. Natural Resource Dependent Sectors; 4. Supporting Sectors for NCS; and 5. An Integrated View of NCS.
Chapter 1 introduces the NCS as providing broad directions on the wise use of natural resources for socio-economic development and is in line with the SDG Framework. Chapter 2 provides the situation analysis, conservation strategies and actions in respect of core NCS sectors such as Land Resources; Water Resources; Forest Resources; Biodiversity and Ecosystem; Inland Fisheries; Coastal and Marine Resources; Livestock Resources; and Primary Energy and Minerals. Chapter 3 provides situation analysis, conservation strategies and actions in respect of natural resource dependent sectors such as Agriculture; Industry; Power; Rural Development; Transport and Communication; Urbanization, Housing and Settlement Planning. Chapter 4 provides situation analysis, conservation strategies and actions in respect supporting sectors of NCS such as Human Resources; Gender; Health and Sanitation; Disasters and Disaster Management; Environment and International Obligations; Environmental Education and Awareness; Information and Communication Technology; Financing Strategy; Monitoring and Coordination Mechanism for NCS Implementation; Institutional Framework for NCS Implementation; and Legal Aspects of NCS. Chapter 5 discusses the close relation between NCS & SDGs and proposes priority actions for urgent, proper management of natural resources.
