Barind Multipurpose Development Authority Act, 2018 (Act No. XXXVI of 2018).

This Act establishes an Authority for developing Barind Area and making plan for the matters connected. For carrying out the purposes of this Act, the duties and functions of the Authority shall be as follows, namely: ensure development and proper utilization of surface- and under-ground water resources for irrigation; mechanize the agriculture, produce and supply of seeds and make corps diversification; maintain environmental balance by afforestation and conservation thereof; construct and maintain connecting roads in a limited form for marketing of agricultural products; establish irrigation equipment and supply pure drinking water at the local areas; enter into contracts, with the prior approval of the Government; conduct research and training; perform such other duties as may be determine by the Government.
