Abstract
This Act provides for the imposition of a duty of excise to be paid to the Committee for the improvement and development of the cultivation and marketing of coconuts.
The Act defines the functions of the Committee, which include: undertaking, assisting or encouraging agricultural, industrial, technological and economic research; supplying technical advice to growers and encouraging the adoption of improved methods in cultivation; fixing grade standards of copra and its products; recommending the maximum and minimum prices to be fixed for copra; improving the marketing of coconuts; and assisting in the control of insects and other pests and diseases of coconut trees.
The Act further provides for: collection of cess by the Collector; powers of the Collector to inspect mills and take copies of records and accounts; etc.
