Abstract
This Act provides for competition law in Bangladesh. It shall apply to all enterprises involved in purchase-sale, production, supply, distribution or storage, of goods or services for commercial purposes. Chapter II establishes the Bangladesh Competition Commission (Commission) and lays down the duties, powers and functions of the Commission. Further, provisions relating to the administration and management of the Commission are laid down. Chapter III contains regulations in respect of anti-competition agreements and abuse of dominant position by any enterprise. Chapter IV provides for the inquiry procedures, power of Commission to issue orders, and prohibition on certain mergers and acquisitions of enterprises. Chapter V lays down the penalty for contravention of orders of the Commission and provides for review of orders by the Commission. Chapter VI provides for financial matters of the Commission.
