Abstract
These Enforcement Guidelines (Guidelines) contain the enforcement activities to be conducted by the Department of Environment (DoE) to achieve compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The objectives of these Guidelines and its scope and applicability are laid down. The provisions of the Bangladesh Environment Conservation Act, 1995 relevant to enforcement operations are described. The roles and responsibilities of various authorities such as the Director General, Monitoring and Enforcement Wing, Mobile Courts and Environment Courts, and other officers and subordinates are laid down. The DoE is required to prepare annual enforcement plans and the procedures for each stage of enforcement is defined. The process for calculating compensation is provided. The guidelines in respect of appeals and appellate authority are also laid down.
