Abstract
The National Agri Marketing Policy, 2023 aims to modernize and streamline agricultural marketing in Bangladesh. It places strong emphasis on empowering farmers, improving market access, integrating digital technologies, and building resilient infrastructure across the agricultural value chain. The policy envisions an inclusive ecosystem where farmers, traders, and processors benefit from fair pricing, reduced wastage, and timely access to markets and inputs.
The rationale for development of this Policy is described. The vision, mission and objectives are laid down. The vision is to develop an efficient, effective, well planned and sustainable agricultural marketing system that supports farmers, traders and consumers. The mission includes establishment of agriculture as a guaranteed profitable profession. The policies and strategies for agriculture market management are laid down. These include interventions relating to market connectivity, information management, community-based marketing, contract farming, marketing of agricultural inputs, warehouse and storage management, developing agricultural market infrastructure, empowerment of women and youth development, e-agriculture marketing, fair pricing, import and export of agricultural products, supply chain development, marketing of processed agricultural products, agro-based business development, research and creation of skilled manpower in agricultural marketing. The strategy for implementation and monitoring of the Policy is also provided.
