Abstract
This is an updated policy relating to health in Bangladesh and seeks to further expand health services especially for the poor and disadvantaged. The goal is sustainable improvement in health, nutrition and family welfare status of the people, particularly the poor and vulnerable groups, with ultimate aim of their economic and social emancipation and physical and mental wellbeing. The objectives include making health service equitably affordable and accessible to all, ensuring an efficient and effective quality health service, innovation in health, developing capable, motivated and supportive health professionals and workers, and establishing an effective linkage with global and regional information network for strengthening health sector’s research and systems development. The strategies laid down by the Policy in respect of nutrition, population planning, health education, control of diseases and emerging threats, climate change and health, affordable health care services, food safety and quality, medical waste management, gender equality, governance, stewardship, and stakeholder participation.
