Abstract
This Act establishes the National institute of Biotechnology. It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Institute for the use of technology, microorganisms, or parts of technology in the application of new organisms (plants, animals or microorganisms) or the processed or derivative products from that organism. This Institute is entitled to perform the following activities: a) deal with the modern biotechnology, including the conduct of research programmes for the development of environmentally friendly and sustainable technology in the field of agriculture, environment and medicine; b) create skilled manpower through training in biotechnology; c) provide assistance for the evolution in the field of biotechnology; d) take public awareness programmes on biotechnology as a national institution; e) standardize and certificate genetically modified food (GM) and genetically modified organisms (GMOs); f) assist the National Committee of Biosafety policies in the field of bioethics and biosurgery; g) link biotechnology with local and international organizations and taking coordinated activities; h) cooperate in research activities with universities and other organizations engaged in biotechnology research; i) improve international relations by bringing consistency in biotechnology research; j) assist patents of new researchers; k) perform other duties related to the government; etc.
