Abstract
The objectives of this land use policy include reversing decline in agricultural land, prevention of excessive use of land, optimising land use in different regions, efficient land acquisition, and ensuring land use is in harmony with the natural environment. The policy describes various uses of land, including in the context of forests, housing, industrialization, wetlands, tea and rubber plantations, and other uses of land. It also provides for strategies on misuse of acquired land, land data bank and land ownership certificate. The policy statements in respect of land use are laid down which covers various aspects such as land ceiling, subdivision of land, agricultural use, declaration of forest land, water bodies and flood control, housing and industrial use, land survey, and monitoring for proper use of land.
