Abstract
The National Shrimp Policy provides for the increase in shrimp production in Bangladesh and sustainable management of shrimp harvesting and processing. The scope of the policy is laid down. The policy covers key areas such as shrimp production and management, processing, quality control and export, employment and poverty alleviation, protecting the environment and pest management. The implementation strategies are provided in the policy and the areas of implementation include diversification of processed products, women empowerment, compliance with international laws, education, training and research on shrimp farming.
