Abstract
The goal of this strategy is to create conditions whereby the urban population in Bangladesh has the opportunity to reach and maintain the highest attainable level of health. The objectives laid down include improved access to quality and equitable healthcare; strengthening governance and stewardship of public, local government and private sectors; institutional development for improved performance; equitable access to health, population and nutrition care of urban population; strengthening the capacities of city corporations and municipalities; building a robust evidence base for decision making; and promoting healthy lifestyle choices, healthy environment and early healthcare seeking. The strategies for urban health are provided along with the roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders.
