Abstract
The object of this Act is to protect the health and safety of people, and to protect the environment from the harmful effects of radiation.
The Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission shall be responsible for making and implementing policies for the following: nuclear safety, radiation control and radioactive waste material; protection of life, health, property and environment from the dangers of radioactive radiation; gathering, production, import, export, transfer, transport, processing, use, etc. of radioactive materials; use and disposal of radioactive waste material.
The Act further makes provision for the following: procedures of granting licences for the production, import, export, transport, use, etc. of radioactive substances or nuclear materials, and for the processing of foodstuff with radioactive radiation; establishment of research centres; appointment of inspectors; offences; etc.
