Safe Food (Technical Committee) Rules, S.R.O. No. 270-Law/2017.

These Rules, issued by the Ministry of Food under section 86, read with section 17 of the Food Safety Act, 2013 (Act No. 43 of 2013), establish a formal system of technical committees, working groups and expert panels to provide scientific and technical support to the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority. The Rules empower the Food Safety Authority to establish as many specialist technical committees as necessary to assist and advise it in carrying out its statutory functions, including: dealing with substances mixed with food, food-related flavouring substances and processing aids/materials, pesticide and antibiotic residues, genetically modified organisms and foods, biological risks, contaminants in the food chain, labelling, sampling and analytical methods. The Rules describe functions and responsibilities of Technical Committees, particularly food-safety emergencies and food hazard affecting public health or creating a crisis.
