Abstract
This Law regulates the preservation and protection of the cultural heritage of the Republic of Bulgaria. The state shall ensure the protection of the cultural heritage regardless of its location. The cultural heritage encompasses the intangible and tangible immovable and movable heritage as a set of cultural values, which are bearers of historical memory, national identity and have scientific or cultural value. The cultural values shall be in public domain and shall be protected by state and municipal bodies in the interest of the citizens of the Republic of Bulgaria. Cultural values may be public and private property. They may be the property of the state, the municipalities, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and other registered religions, as well as natural and legal persons. The cultural values, archeological sites, originating from the territory and the water area of the Republic of Bulgaria, are public state property. Cultural heritage assets, in terms of this Acts are: terrestrial, underground and underwater archaeological sites and reserves; historical objects complex; architectural complexes; 4. Ethnographic objects complex; form of park experience and landscape architecture; natural values (forms), incl. anthropological remains, discovered in-depth studies, iostans of paleozoology and cultivated plants; folk crafts and medicine; products of fine and applied arts; customs, rites, celebrations, rituals and beliefs; culinary and oenological traditions.
