The law details the competent authorities responsible for official control and other activities within the agri-food chain. These include the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency, regional health inspections, and several executive agencies related to agriculture and food. It also outlines the procedures for sampling, laboratory testing, and risk communication, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between national and European bodies to ensure food safety and manage crises effectively.
Additionally, the law includes administrative and financial provisions for the enforcement of official controls. It specifies the penalties for non-compliance, the funding mechanisms for control activities, and the requirements for maintaining public electronic registers of approved and registered entities in the agri-food chain. The law aims to enhance the efficiency and transparency of food safety management in Bulgaria, aligning national regulations with European Union standards.
