Abstract
This Bulgarian National program for disaster risk reduction for the planned period from the year 2021 until the year 2025 contains specific strategic objectives, operational objectives and activities to implement the operational objectives, as defined in framework document (National Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction 2018-2030). The National Program will help to systematize the approach to reduce existing risks and prevent new ones from arising, increase preparedness and response capabilities and rapid recovery after disasters, respecting the principle of "build again, but better".
Disasters have a significant effect on the social and economic condition of society, therefore reducing the damage and losses caused by them is a vital component of efforts to ensure security and prosperity in every region in Bulgaria. Accordingly, the implementation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction Program focuses on, but is not limited to: Reducing the population's vulnerability to disasters; Improving coordination and efficiency in the implementation of disaster risk reduction activities in individual sectors and preventing duplication of activities; Increase the funds invested in disaster risk reduction activities; Improving the sharing of disaster risk information and data; Use of public-private partnership to achieve better results in disaster risk reduction; Increasing the use of innovation and technology in disaster risk reduction.
