National strategy for promoting the equality of women and men for the period 2021-2030.

This Bulgarian National strategy for promoting the equality of women and men for the period 2021-2030 identifies the following key areas: Priority area 1: Equality of women and men in the labour market and equal degree of economic independence; Priority area 2: Reducing the gender gap in pay and income; Priority area 3: Promoting equality of women and men in decision-making processes; Priority area 4: Combating violence and protecting and supporting victims; Priority area 5: Overcoming gender stereotypes in various spheres of public life and sexism.
Equality of women and men means equal rights and obligations, equal opportunities for realization and overcoming obstacles in all areas of public life. Women and men should be free to develop their personal capacities and make choices without the constraints of gender stereotypes and discrimination. Ensuring equality between women and men is a fundamental factor for the realization of the rights of all citizens. Its importance is enhanced by the need to address multiple global and national challenges - economic, technological, climate, social, political, migration, cultural, as well as emergency situations.
