Sea Spaces Act 1987.

This Act consists 81 articles divided into 11 Chapters: General provisions (1); Internal waters (2); territorial sea (3); Contiguous zone (4); Continental shelf (5); Exclusive Economic Zone (6); Marine scientific research (7); Protection of and prohibition regarding pollution of the marine environment (8); Safety at sea (9); Right of hot pursuit (10); Administrative and penal provisions; Monetary penalties with respect to the scuttling or abandonment of vessels (11).
In this Act establishing the maritime zones of the People's Republic of Bulgaria, provisions addressing specifically the issue of fishing are found under Chapter 6 on the Exclusive Economic Zone and under Chapter 11 on monetary penalties. Chapter 6, article 50, stipulates that no foreign ships may engage in commercial fishing in the Exclusive Economic Zone of Bulgaria, save in the case of an Agreement between the People's Republic of Bulgaria and the flag state. Article 76 of Chapter 11 provides for a fine of between 500 to 100 000 leva to be imposed on the master of a foreign non-military vessel who orders or permits commercial fishing in the Exclusive Economic Zone.
