Abstract
The Updated strategy for the management of spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste until 2030 aims to ensure the creation of a comprehensive framework for the management of spent nuclear fuel and all types and categories of radioactive waste, with the exception of RW from military applications. This framework should formulate applicable legislation, policy and development strategy. The strategy determines the course or course of action in accordance with the energy policy of the country, chosen from among the alternatives and in view of the specific conditions in the country and determines the current and future decisions. The strategy is based on the system method, including the selection and development of specific solutions for the separate interconnected stages of the management of spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste. These stages are subordinated to one goal, which allows to significantly reduce the amount of guidance for making these decisions. Basic principles included in this text are protection of human health, protection of future generations, not burdening future generations, control over the generation of radioactive waste and other (see page 11).
