Abstract
This Resolution, consisting of 5 Articles, regulates fishing using nets, traps, enclosures, and gillnets, setting minimum mesh sizes, maximum net lengths, and prohibiting harmful materials (nylon, non-biodegradable plastics) and certain fishing methods (floating nets, multi-layered nets, gillnets with many hooks). It mandates safe distances from the shore and between enclosures, requires the immediate release of protected or endangered species, and the removal of damaged gear, aiming to ensure sustainable fishing and protect marine ecosystems. Article 2 prohibits the import and trade of nylon fishing nets of all types and sizes. Penalties for violations are stipulated in Decree-Law No. 20 of 2002.
