Law No. 1 of 2004 on Patents and Utilization Instruments.

The aim of the present Law is to define the conditions and requirements fort issuing patents. This Law is composed of 3 Sections divided into 46 articles. Section 1 deals with the following matters: (a) requirements and conditions for the issuance of patents; (b) fields of application; (c) registration, validity and intellectual property rights: (d) steps and arrangements for patent’s applications; (e) the competent authority for patents; (f) transfer of the patent property; (g) use and pawning of patents; (h) conditions for the issuance of the obligatory licences for patent utilization; and (i) invalidity and expiry of property rights. Section 2 provides for the utilization instruments of patents, registration, and validity. Section 3 contains general provisions such as the temporary protection, complaint, fees and taxes, offences and penalties.
