Law No. 16 of 2026 amending some provisions of the Penal Code issued by Decree-Law No. 15 of 1976.

This Law, comprising 3 artices, amends the Penal Code as follows (i) Article 55, to require all persons sentenced to a custodial penalty to participate in rehabilitation and training programmes at a correction and rehabilitation centre, taking into account their individual circumstances and with the objective of rehabilitation and social reintegration; (ii) Article 210 by replacing the reference to "prison" with "correction and rehabilitation centre"; (iii) in addition, the amendments replace the term "prisons" with "correction and rehabilitation centres" throughout the Penal Code to reflect the updated terminology and rehabilitative approach.
