Abstract
This Law, comprising 3 articles, amends the original text as follows (i) Article 1 by amending the definition of the competent administrative authority to include any ministry, authority, agency, or government department responsible for consumer protection within a specific sector; (ii) Article 22, empowering the court to order the confiscation or destruction of the goods involved in the offence and the materials or tools used in committing it, at the offender's expense, in addition to the prescribed penalties; (iii) repalcing Article 23 to establish an administrative enforcement regime for violations of the law. The amendments authorize the Minister to impose administrative sanctions where violations are not remedied, including temporary closure of establishments, suspension or cancellation of commercial registration, and administrative fines. The new provisions also set out the criteria for determining fines.
