Abstract
These Co-operative Societies Rules, consisting of 51 sections and completed by two Schedules, are made under section 50 of the Co-operative Societies Act, establish the requirements for the registration of a society which shall be submitted to the Registrar in Form A in the Second Schedule. They establish that applications shall be accompanied by three copies of the proposed by-laws of the society and by the minutes of the meeting at which the members agreed to accept all the rights, duties and liabilities prescribed by the by-laws. The copies of the by-laws must be signed by the applicants for the registration and the minutes must be signed by at least ten members of the society. Where the Registrar decides to register the society in Form B in the Second Schedule, the society shall be registered in the Register of Co-operative Societies. One copy of the by-laws shall be retained in the Registrar’s office and the other two shall be signed by the Registrar and returned to the society together with the certificate of registration and a copy of the Act and the rules free of charge.
