Abstract
This Regulation, consisting of 18 articles, provides for the rules to be met to import live crustaceans, in particular, it establishes that (i) importers must be registered with the Fisheries Department of the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism; (ii) they must have a valid crustaceans fish import license; (iii) imported crustaceans species must be included in the ones listed in the approved import license application; (iv) the importer's premises must have an approved quarantine facility; (v) importers must comply with live crustacean disease control measures; (vi) importers must comply with and practice Pollution Control Guidelines for Industrial Development, and Brunei Good Aquaculture Practices; (vii) importers must allow the Department of Fisheries to obtain samples of imported live crustaceans for laboratory analysis; (viii) if required, they must inform the Fisheries Department of the date and time of importation for the purpose of inspection and sampling and must provide information on each importation of crustaceans to the Fisheries Department for storage record purposes.
The Regulation also indicates the procedures to be followed in both the exporting country and Brunei Darussalam. these procedures are related to (i) handling and packaging; (ii) health Certificates; (iii) crustacean sources that shall be only among the approved farms and free from crustacean diseases; (iv) inspections and sampling; (v) quarantine; (vi) procedures to be followed in case of positive disease analysis.
