Abstract
This Act is enacted to prevent corruption and bribery and to establish an Anti-Corruption Bureau.
The Act empowers the Anti-Corruption Bureau, and governs and defines corruption and bribery and the punishments. Duties of Director and Officers of the Anti-Corruption Bureau shall include: (a) receive and consider any report of the commission of an offence under this Act or any prescribed offence and to investigate such of those reports; (b) detect and investigate any suspected offence, any suspected attempt to commit any offence, and any suggested conspiracy to commit any offence; (c) examine the practices, systems and procedures of public bodies in order to facilitate the discovery of offences; (d) instruct, advise and assist any person, on the latter’s request, on ways in which corruption may be eliminated by such person; (e) educate the public against corruption; and (f) enlist and foster public support in combating corruption; etc.
The Act further makes provisions, inter alia, for: investigation powers of an Officer of the Bureau; offences and penalties; evidence; prosecution of offence; etc.
