Complementary Law No. 741 establishing the State Policy on Social Assistance of Rio Grande do Norte (PEAS/RN) and the organization of the State Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS).

This Complementary Law establishes the State Policy on Social Assistance of Rio Grande do Norte (PEAS/RN) aiming to confront socio-territorial inequalities, guarantee social minimums, provide conditions to meet social contingencies and the universalization of social rights and lays down the organization of the State Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS). The objectives of PEAS/RN are: I- social protection, aiming to guarantee life, reduce damage and prevent the incidence of risks, especially: a) protection of the family, motherhood, childhood, adolescence and old age; b) supporting for children, adolescents, young people and the elderly; c) promoting inclusion in the labor market; d) qualification and rehabilitation of people with disabilities and the promotion of their inclusion in community life; II- promotion of social assistance surveillance, through territorial-based diagnoses regarding the protective capacity of families and exposure to personal and social risks; III- defense of rights, aiming to guarantee full access to rights in all socio-assistance provisions.
