Complementary Law No. 873 establishing the Agricultural Policy for Planted Forests within the State of Rondônia.

This Complementary Law, consisting of 31 articles divided into ten Chapters, establishes the Agricultural Policy for Planted Forests within the State of Rondônia. It lays down principles, defines institutional objectives and competences, provides resources, actions and instruments of the Agricultural Policy for Planted Forests regarding the activities of production, processing and marketing of products, by-products, services and inputs originating from planted forests. For the development and execution of this Agricultural Policy will be applied the instruments of the National Agricultural Policy provided for in Law No. 8.171 of 17 January 1991.
This Agricultural Policy will be implemented based on the following principles: planted forests are recognized as renewable natural resources, producing goods and services to the social and economic development of the country, besides contributing to nature conservation and mitigation climate change; planted forests should create opportunities and encourage the inclusion of small and medium-sized entrepreneurs; planted forest areas should encompass their multiple uses with a focus on increasing productivity and integrated development of production chains. The objectives of the Agricultural Policy are: expand areas and productivity of planted forests with positive impacts on the economic, social and environmental development of the State; reduce pressure on native forests; promote forest promotion as a means of ensuring the inclusion of small and medium-sized entrepreneurs in the development of planted forests; encourage scientific and technological research and training as a tool to support the development of planted forests; ensure the monitoring of planted forests, etc.
