Constitution of the State of Rio Grande do Norte.

The State of Rio Grande do Norte establishes social rights including: education, health, food, housing, work, transportation, leisure, security, social security, protection of motherhood and childhood, and assistance. In particular, it is the common responsibility of the State and Municipalities to: safeguard the Federal Constitution, this Constitution, laws, and democratic institutions, and preserve public property; provide for public health and assistance, and the protection and guarantee of persons with disabilities; protect documents, works, and other assets of historical, artistic, and cultural value, monuments, notable natural landscapes, and archaeological sites; prevent the evasion, destruction, and defacement of works of art and other assets of historical, artistic, or cultural value; provide means of access to culture, education, science, technology, research, and innovation; protect the environment and combat pollution in all its forms; preserve forests, fauna, and flora; promote agricultural production and organize the food supply; promote housing construction programs and the improvement of housing and basic sanitation conditions, including in rural areas; combat the causes of poverty and factors of marginalization, promoting the social integration of disadvantaged sectors; register, monitor and oversee the granting of research and exploration rights for water and mineral resources within its territory; establish and implement a road safety education policy.
