Decree No. 11.550 providing for the Interministerial Committee on Climate Change.

This Decree establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the permanent Interministerial Committee on Climate Change (CIM), entitled to monitoring the implementation of public actions and policies within the scope of the National Policy on Climate Change (PNMC). CIM will be an institutional instrument of the federal Executive Branch to coordinate government actions resulting from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), promulgated by Decree No. 2.652 of 1 July 1998, including the objective of climate neutrality.
In particular, CIM is responsible to perform the following: articulate and define lines of action related to the objectives, guidelines and instruments provided for in Law No. 12.187 of 29 December 2009; define the guidelines for the Brazilian Government's action in policies related to climate change, including the Brazilian Government's action in the UNFCCC, and in the instruments related to it; guide the development of policies for bodies and entities that have a impact on the emission and absorption of greenhouse gases; deliberate on the country's strategies for the preparation, implementation, financing, monitoring, evaluation and updating of policies, plans and actions related to climate change, including the country's successive nationally determined contributions, under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, promulgated by Decree No. 9.073 of 5 June 2017; propose updates to the PNMC that include measures on climate change mitigation and adaptation plans, etc.
