Decree No. 11.852 establishing the National Programme for Sustainable Aquaculture Development (ProAqui).

This Decree establishes the National Programme for Sustainable Aquaculture Development (ProAqui). ProAqui’s objectives are: institutional strengthening of aquaculture policy and related activities; structuring, organization and development of aquaculture production chains; socio-productive inclusion of agents involved in the sector; and promotion of sustainable growth in the productive capacity of aquaculture. The Programme's priorities are: I - encouragement of environmental and land regularization; II - generation and management of aquaculture data; III - promotion of different aquaculture production chains; IV - planning and development of National aquaculture; V - stimulation of research, development and innovation in the aquaculture sector; VI - encouragement of good practices in aquaculture health, biosafety and animal welfare; VII - attraction of public and private investments for aquaculture; VIII - promotion of communication and marketing in aquaculture; IX - stimulation of the circular and bio-economy; X - development and competitiveness of the internal and external market; XI - support for certifications as a way of adding value to aquaculture products; XII - strengthening family aquaculture and local production arrangements; XIII – encouraging associations and cooperatives; XIV - qualification and valorization of aquaculture human resources; and XV – development of technical assistance and aquaculture extension.
