Decree No. 12.336 creating the National Fishing Vessel Regularization Programme.

This Decree creates the National Fishing Vessel Regularization Programme (Propesc) within the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture. Propesc aims to: regularize fishing vessels registered in the General Fishing Activity Registry (RGP) and in the Computerized System of the General Fishing Activity Registry (SisRGP); and update the information on the vessels contained in the System. Propesc does not apply to vessels whose Prior Fishing Permit or Fishing Authorization has been cancelled. The objectives of Propesc are I - encourage compliance with the rules governing the organization, registration, monitoring and control of fishing activities; II - stimulate the generation of employment and income in the fish production chain; III - contribute to the traceability of Brazilian fish products; and IV - support the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.
